I come from a company with over 650 employee's and decided to create a Rostering system to save time, money, resources, easy backup and a rostering system which can be adapted to any rostering system already in place, using software almost every one has.

I went to a Rota management meeting early this year, in that meeting there where around 50 managers all of whom do rotas using traditional methods. We was set a very complex task to do, we were split into groups of 4, the task was to write a rota for one week, various activites and task where given, we had a total hours budget and a number of staff, we where limited to a maximum of 10 hour shifts and we had to have a minimum of staff at various times of the day.
I was the only manager who uses a computer to do rotas and it so happened that I had my laptop at the meeting, I worked on my own the other groups did the task within their groups using the methods they have been using for several years.
Proof of the pudding: Well not only did I finish first within the given time for the task working on my own, I was the only one in the meeting to complete the task in time and under budget. You can imaging some of the comments such as, you cheated using a computer.
